gone fishin'

We went and visited this idyllic fish farm a few weeks ago.
Nate has been super excited about doing only a few things with Brig so far.
Okay he's been super excited about doing only one thing.
Going to the fish farm.

Really?
yup.
Every since he heard about Smith's Fish Farm it has been numero uno on the family list of to do's.
So this last Saturday when he finally cashed in his "Saturday of you choice" coupon I had given him for his birthday (last time I do that...) , we headed for Ida Clayton Road.

Waiting....

Brig's response was just what it should be when a slimy thing is jumping around in your face.
Best thing ever about parenting?
Getting to show your kids their "firsts".

if "slimy, squirmy fish" had a facial expression.... this would be it.

he rode around with his momma too.
poor face... periorificial dermatitis sucks. But it's starting to clear up now...

 My man being a man.
Ew... did you know you have to take the hooks out of the fish and kill them when you catch them?

It was quite a fun little family day.
Good idea Nate Boy :)
Here's to more fishing!!

* just for the record... I caught the bigger fish.

w, moma, ybca

We had an acronym weekend.
Nate had a clinic in the city.
Brig and I tagged along.
Because....
We stayed at the W San Francisco, which is next door to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, which is across the street from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
phew...
Nate did his work thing and Brig and I enjoyed roaming a .25 mile radius of our hotel.
Aside from getting room service for warm milk at 5 am (no crying it-out baby in the hotel) and it being 5 am when Brig woke up, it was perfect.
Beautiful 75 degree weather and me having a companion to do something my eternal companion will never do with me.
bliss.

we arrived at the museum just as they opened the doors for the day.
Brig was very interested in what was going on in the foyer.

Our great plan of action for the SFMOMA was top-to-bottom.
And my favorite exhibit just happened to be right at the top.

Brig listening to my favorite exhibit.
They have orchestrated the museums boiler room and have it playing along the bridge that overlooks the foyer.
very very neat.

Do mine eyes deceive me?
no.
That's Wendover for sure.

Don't remember who/what did this wall but its how you access the rooftop garden and was very pretty

And of course Brig with SFMOMA's only Andy Warhol.
And how cheeky for it to be a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and the silver screen.
And as you can see Brig was done.
So this was the last piece we saw before dashing to the museum cafe for lunch, which was bad.

And then...
we headed to the gardens.
The big people gardens are beautiful and have a large and very intriguing water feature.
We headed over to kid land for some play.
I mean, after doing a MOMA with me, the boy deserved it.

A much more appropriate water feature was found.

He climbed over and over that 4 in gap.

It was bliss for him

Very near as magnificent as the MOMA to view.
After all.. he is my masterpiece :)

Then daddy arrived....
and took him on the carousel round 2.
Think he likes his daddy?

When Brig is excited to see/be/talk to his dad he starts performing his one and only trick.
Clapping.

They played a few musical horses...

Then went round and round.

It was a very fun day.
We like tagging along Natey :)

i'm a mom

I just had to post
in memory of mother's day
that I am a Mom.

The happiest and greatest thing that has ever happened to me.
and today (which was mother's day) I took a little more time playing with my baby
I took less time worrying about what was for dinner or what chore needed to be done.
Every time I engaged Brig's eye I actually engaged his eye, instead of hoping he didn't get distracted by me and leave his toy he was so entertained with.
I let him take as long of  a bath as he wanted then rocked him for much longer than I usually permit.
It was wonderful.
Why don't I take this time every day?
Well, I know why...
But I am determined to let it happen more than once a year.
So let me say:
I am a Mom.
it is wonderful.
And Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful mothers in my life.
You are the greatest.

Easter 2011

I'm not one to say such things but, Easter, was a doosie this year.
Nate and I both spoke in sacrament, then I taught a combined Young Women's lesson.
Talk about daunting right?
Well it was.
We both spent all week preparing for the task. Many nights studying, many days pondering. By the time church was over on Easter we both crashed. But know what? It was probably the most genuine Easter I have ever had. Both Nate and I spent the entire week pondering our Savior's life and his atonement. It was genuine, it helped remind me that Brig didn't need a big ole' toy, that dinner didn't need to take me all day and night, and that I want to try focus on the real meaning of Easter.
Every Easter.

We Brig and I did still take part in a few mainstream activities of course
like....

coloring eggs...

When we began the egg coloring event I thought I was doing this just for me.
I mean how much enjoyment can a one year old get out of egg coloring?

wrong oh wrong I was!
Brig had a grand old time.
Picked up each egg and plopped it in the glasses for me.

Our finished product!
Only a dozen this year.

I just die over Brig's face in this one.
I kept trying to not let him reach them (they were still wet) while still having them in the picture.

I failed and brig had a yellow mouth after this shot.

Easter morning was an early one.
All mornings are with Brig...
Of course I had to make us Easter breakfast.
I made these cute sweet rolls that represent an "empty tomb"

found here.

the Easter bunny did bring Brig a few items...
Chocolate bunny : check
Bubbles: check

then things got crazy and pictures didn't happen before church, but after church.
so the light was way to bright, and our cloths we're way to wrinkly.
but, I'm sure this is probably going to be an Easter tradition, and quite frankly, Easter cloths are something I'm not going to be giving up on.

sorry Nate for the worst angle ever of you.
But I still think you look cute, even after you decided not to wear you coordinating blue shirt.
it was probably the better decision seeing as you were speaking...
but you still could have slipped it on for pictures....
 hmmph

We're doing the same tongue thing.
I've always thought it was an ugly thing I did.
And well, I've now passed it right along.
Looks much better on Brig of course.

and bubbles....
Brig loved them loved them.
After our Sunday naps we went in the backyard to pick up the eggs the bunny had scattered about our grass and blew glorious bubbles.
Again, thought the egg gathering was going to be a 'for me' thing.
Brig knew right what to do. I mean he also liked unloading them, but he'd crawl to one then dump it in his basket.
Amazing these babies.

*sigh*
It was a very Happy Easter.
