They figured it out

Saturday Nate's friend Steve Dummit got married. And they figured it out. They had a very nice luncheon that lasted two hours. Can you believe it? Well it truly did and it was so nice. Short and sweet program then the couple sad good-bye to everyone at the door. If I did it over again... this would be how I would do it. Congratulations Steve and Marianne!

The Happy Couple

Nate got really excited about these peppers so he got a whole plate full.

Yummy?

*Why do people do this? It looks so terrible

The Park!

Now I'm sure every body loves where they had their wedding. But I ADORE where mine was held. Memory Grove has to be one of my favorite parks every... it is gorgeous. One good thing about living in a city is that there are beautiful parks. It makes me never want to move from the city. Well when it started thinking about getting warm I decided it was time to go to the park and what better excuse is there than dogs?

My poor dogs have been locked up all winter and not having a yard really cuts into their exercise. They can only run up and down the stair so much you know?

Madame Lucy LOVES the park. The other great thing about city parks is that they are dog friendly and full of dogs. Which is why Lucy loves the park; she loves dogs -- people not so much.

Parks are a new experience for Red since he's only been with us since October. He loves the smells and exploring but he's terrified of other dogs. It so funny, he runs away crying.

Fun little tid bits...

San Antonio

After a few days Nate decided it was time to do downtown so here it is

The Alamo
Me with a snow cone at the Alamo. I love snow cones
The back of the Alamo with a cool tree..
The river walk. It's really pretty, but we were there on a Saturday and it was like 95 degrees.. ahh
San Antonio temple
Cascarones!

Mexican Easter eggs with confetti inside. Apparently you crack them on people heads? Well Nate was telling me about them so inevitably one of the people we visited he got some from so we cracked them before we left!

Nate wanted me to take a picture of his socks on the way home

The delicious food

I've heard a lot about Nate's mission but probably more than anything I've heard about the food on his mission. Ha no not really but I've heard a lot about the food. SO there are 3 of Nate's favorites and they are 1) Chris Madrid's 2)Queers 3) Rudy's

Chris Madrid's has THE best jalapeƱo burger ever. They are HUGE and the cheese is extra amazing, Nate claims they like have a copyright or something on the cheese.

I love you

It was also a big spot for the missionaries so on the wall of Chris Madrid's is this shirt and tie with the missionaries that have eaten there on it.(His name is right next to his head)

At a little hamburger joint in the neighboring city to Carrizo, Crystal Hills, you find Queers. They are soft served ice cream with icee on top. Ingenious.

Great risks have been taken for these before and I now understand why

Rudy's. As most people know barbecue is a big deal in Texas. This was always Nate's favorite.

This is how you eat it... on a piece of paper accompanied with wonder bread

And this is how it tastes... mmmm

Back to the mission

So for Nate's birthday he wanted to go back to San Antonio to visit his mission. So with our airfare credit and his cousins sweet Marriott rates we booked the trip(thanks Charlotte). Well it was a treat! Sometimes a little long... but very good to see where my man served. The first two days we went to his areas. Ghetto. I didn't really appreciate Texas because all I was seeing was ghetto. So this segment will be Nate's apartments, I know exciting.

Nate's second to last area and our first stop. South Zone.

This is how you know where the missionaries live.

This was his first area further again in the South Zone. Nate was really excited about our whole trip and quite crazy... Really the people we visited almost all commented on how BOLD Nate was. I experienced some of it, he couldn't remember which house was this kid he taught so he just knocked the whole street to be safe. Seeing as we were in the ghetto I just sat in the car with doors locked.

Carrizo Springs. This is a border city and very small and kinda crappy. Nate LOVED this area... he was there for seven months. I have no idea what he could have done in a town that small for seven months but oh well. There were a lot of people Nate really loved here and luckily we caught a few of them on a short visit.

Oh and yes he did try knocking on all the apartments he lived in. Forgive me I am missing one other apartment we visited in Austin, but by the time we got to Austin I wasn't as enthused. It looked the nicest though

Oh and this is the little church in Carrizo Spring. Isn't it cute?

Birthday part II

For Nate's birthday dinner with his family he wanted Happy Sumo. So Happy Sumo it was

Nate with his mom and dad. Their responsible for his existence (thank you)

The fam that could make it to dinner. This seems to be the trend for dinner I think its cause Jayce and Jules don't have kids either so we're all available for dinner. It was such a fun time! Really the Clark's are my favorite people to go to eat with. His mom orders like 4 appetizers and then it just keeps going from there. We always wind up eating for over two hours and its always so fun. I wouldn't mind having birthdays dinners every week. It was a great time and we all love you Nate!

Me and my Baby

Birthdays!

My man turned 24 yesterday! I love birthdays.. especially for people like my husband. Really I am so glad he was born. He makes my life so wonderful. Not to mention interesting... he is such a boy, but I love every bit of him and was glad we could celebrate him.

Brooke and Nate actually share their birthday so we did a joint party at my mom's. Brooke picked the dinner menu, Nate picked the dessert. It was all AMAZING but Nate dessert pick, my mom's strawberry shortcake, is extra amazing.
Thank you siblings for your happy birthdays to Nate. Kennan he particularly liked your gift... unfortunately I think it will double his time on the computer reading sports articles.
The birthdayers
Redford wanted to give Nate a Birthday kiss (if you look close you'll see his tongue in Nate's nose)....Oh and he is getting huge....
And the wonderful women who made the event possible, thank you mom!
