they man handle silver dollar pancakes.
it's adorable

10 months old my boy

you've had a 10 month birthday
:)

we didn't go to the doctor's this month so i don't have any stats for you
but you have been quite busy.

your biggest achievement this month? well crawling of course!  and seriously, why is it so stinkin cute?your little baby body is the cutest. you haven't pulled yourself up to your feet yet but you do pull yourself onto you knees to get a better look at things ie the dogs at the backdoor. i am quite partial to this and maybe there is nothing better then when you crawl on over to me, then up me. love.
the best part of you crawling? your still slow. seriously your slowness is kind of hilarious and robyn aptly pointed out it fits perfectly with your turtle-ness. you just mosey everywhere, your movements are very controlled and precise.  you are still a maniac eater and i discovered a few days ago just what your two toothed mouth can do. chew. very expertly. i feed you whole pancakes and whole bananas and you just take bites like a big boy. seriously brig, you have two teeth don't you still feel like you need mushy/small pieced things? apparently not. this month you have fallen in love with the swing and the baby einstein movies we've had for 7 months.  you cry when i get you out of the swing, so much that the other day you literally fell asleep in the swing.  and baby einstein? i've put it on several times in your short life and you've had zero interest {which made me question those baby einstein people} but all of the sudden your are enraptured. it makes making dinner much more pleasant. you are obsessed with anything plugged into the wall. i am convinced sticking the ends of electrical cords in the mouth is a baby reflex. on a high note to my mothering, you've been hanging out in the yard while i try to prune our mammoth rose bushes and the such. just the other day i looked over to see you with a leaf heading for your mouth. i went to get it out, not quickly enough, and wound up having to do some finger swiping. i got most out on the first swipe but could still see a dark part in your mouth. so i swiped again only to fling out a slug. i'm still gagging.
we are definitely in a transition. you are growing up. you no longer are interested in two naps and if i give you two you wake up at 5 am :( i'm still trying to work this whole thing out. you are sleeping beautifully through the night though and i very much enjoy that.
well baby boy.
sure love you!

just stop trying to pull my lamp down.

mother to three

i got these three for the weekend.
15, 10, 10 months
just something about your brother's and sister's kids
you just can't help but love them like your own.
miranda and asher are no exception

they come from a very cultured home
consequently their weekend with me was quite suburban.
really, all i know how to do is feed kids.
i hope they weren't too bored
cause i just loved
well,
them.
:)

i did have the privilege of taking this girl on her very first 'real' date
and i also had the privilege of playing responsible guardian with the the boy

i know it is bad to have this frame of mind, but i just can't help feeling like i've missed these kids lives.
i know they're 10 & 15 and still plenty of life in them but sometimes my heart just aches that i haven't been there for everything.
they were such a nice bit of change especially with nate gone for the weekend
and brig pretty much thought they were awesome.

i just liked walking around and seeing scenes like this at my house.
so excited for my family to grow.
so excited to share my brother's family.
come back anytime!

a 9 month post

we got a little behind there during the holidays
and a little lazy this first week of the year
so here is a late 9 month post

you sir are the best
especially in scrumptious grey suit

stats
height: 28 in (45%)
weight: 18lb 12 oz (20%)
head: 47 cm (90%)

you are being very diligent in remaining on the same growth curve
bravo :)

yes you see those two teeth?
you hatched those in this 9th month!
i find it hard to believe that we are going to go through the whole ordeal for every single tooth
but alas, your sprouting another as we post which is why i'm still in my bathrobe at  11 am
you also have mastered the army crawl. you can crawl i know it, but you just keep your head down and make it drag on the ground. it's pretty cute and both dad and i are impressed how fast you are. you have started biting. mostly me, but dad's got those two teeth in his arm as well. you are such a grown up eater and pretty much are done with baby food to my dismay. you graduated from laying down during you bathtub to doing whatever you want which usually includes large gulps of bath water. you say "mamama" all the time and i really can't resist when you do. you tear your bumpers in your crib apart when you wake up. you won't clap your hands, wave, or perform any other skill i try teach you but you sure loooove watching me try. the door stop is the best thing ever in your book. especially letting me in and out of your room. if i wear jewelry i am the best mom ever and for some reason you still find your necklace the end-all even though it never leaves my neck. you've discovered how to share your food with the dogs {boo}. you now just take two  naps a day and go to sleep at your usual hour... ahem, 7 pm. oh, and did i mention we're still crazy just about you? well, we are :)

we went to the park with our friends stephanie and jasmine
one of the niceties of living in california in january
you sure like the swing
